A Conversation About Paced X Rooted

In conversation with Dana Washington about the philosophy guiding Paced X Rooted.

  • It started with noticing patterns in how people move through everyday situations—including myself. Some of us move too fast, constantly pushing through things. Others reach a point where everything feels overwhelming and we freeze.

I became curious about what happens when we adjust the pace just enough to notice what’s happening around us and within us. Life doesn’t necessarily slow down, but the way we move through it can change.

  • Pacing doesn’t mean stopping completely. Life keeps moving.

It means creating enough space to notice what’s happening before reacting automatically—including what your body might be telling you. For some people that means slowing down. For others it means finding a way to move again after feeling stuck.

Sometimes the shift you need begins by pausing long enough to see the situation differently.

  • Not everything needs words.

Sometimes reconnecting looks like sound, movement, or other nonverbal ways of releasing tension and finding balance. Learning to notice those signals—and responding to them in ways that feel safe—can change how we move through stress and everyday situations.

  • Being rooted means staying connected to who you are while life continues moving around you.

It’s about learning how to return to your own awareness before deciding how you want to respond.ion

  • I realized many people are trying to navigate everyday life without ever being shown practical ways to pause, adjust perspective, or respond differently to situations.

Some people feel constantly overextended. Others feel stuck and unsure how to move forward again. Paced X Rooted was created as a space to learn and practice skills that help people move through life with more steadiness.

  • Each experience focuses on a different part of how we move through everyday life.

Some experiences focus more on reconnecting with the body and noticing physical cues that we often ignore. Others focus on perspective—learning how to step back and look at situations differently. And others focus on practicing those skills consistently so they become part of how we move through daily life.

Together they help people build awareness, adjust their responses, and develop a steadier rhythm in the way they navigate everyday situations.

  • Paced X Rooted is a stress and resilience coaching space.

It is intentionally separate from counseling and therapy and focuses on the how—learning and using skills in real time, not processing or diagnosing.

This is a space to work through everyday situations using structure, perspective, and action.

I am a Certified Health Coach and Certified Life Coach, with training completed through the Health Coach Institute (HCI). My approach is shaped by years of guiding others through real-life challenges, with a focus on direction, accountability, and follow through.

  • The work draws from evidence-based teachings like Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and behavioral modification. The goal is translating those ideas into tools people can actually use in real-life situations.

  • Experiences are hosted virtually so people can participate from wherever they are. Depending on the experience, sessions range from about 40 minutes to 2 hours.

  • A steadier way of moving through life.

Not perfection. Just the ability to pause, adjust perspective, reconnect with themselves, and respond with greater awareness.
